MGP leaders and supporters on Wednesday visited shopkeepers and vendors in the Ponda market area and collected a total of Rs 8 lakh for the Kerala relief fund.
Besides collecting Rs 8 lakh, MGP leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar said the party workers had also collected 1,500 kg of pulses and other essential items to be sent to Kerala.
On Wednesday, MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar, Sanvordem MLA Deepak Prabhu Pauskar, PMC Chairperson Pradeep Naik, Dr Ketan Bhatikar and MGP supporters visited the market area and appealed to people to contribute for the relief fund.
“Shopkeepers, vendors and other people supported this programme and contributed generously to the cause,” said Dr Bhatikar.
MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar has thanked people for supporting the cause.
“We are thankful to the public for contributing towards the Kerala relief fund. It has been our responsibility to help them during this calamity,” Dhavalikar said.
Incidentally, the MGP central committee has contributed Rs 2 lakh for the flood relief efforts underway in Kerala.
PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar contributed Rs 1 lakh, while MLA Deepak Pauskar, Dr Ketan Bhatikar and MGP leader Abhay Prabhu donated Rs 51,000 each towards the cause.
